We can start children riding at Abbeyfields from 5 years old. We begin with half hour one-to-one sessions and after about 6 to 8 of these children are usually ready to join a shared or group lesson.

We regularly assess children to make sure they are in the level of group most suitable for them.

Adults can learn to ride with us at any age. We begin with half hour one-to-one sessions and most of our riders then move on to shared private lessons (usually 2 or 3 people per lesson).

We can also continue to offer private lessons.

Important Information

Hard hats must be worn complying to safety standards. These can be hired from us at a small charge.
Suitable footwear must be worn. Boots with a smooth sole and a small heel are the most appropriate.
Comfortable clothing is recommended. Leggings or tracksuit bottoms are a good choice. Jeans may rub on the seams.
We ride in most weather conditions – please bring appropriate clothing.
No smoking is permitted on the premises.
Body protectors are recommended.

Terms and Conditions

Refunds for lessons are not made under any circumstances.Bookings may be moved to another available date, provided 24hrs notice by telephone is given. Less than 24hrs notice incurs full cancellation without refund and must be paid in full.

Payment must be made by cash or cheque. Bankers cards must be presented with cheques.  We are unable to accept credit cards.

Horse riding is a risky sport and clients must accept the risk of personal injury or loss for whatever reason, while attending our establishment.
